Problem Frame

Open letter to myself  (although the intended audience is everyone who believes that climate change is a problem but does not personally act upon resolving it)

Climate change is a problem associated with a multitude of problems ranging from global temperature increase to polar ice cap melting. There have been international efforts to reduce the rate of climate change due to the widely accepted belief that climate change is caused by human activities, mostly fossil fuel burning. Despite the common acknowledgement of the cause of the problem, there is a general lack of action at the individual level; that is, people are not changing personal habits that exacerbate climate change. This inability to collectively change private behaviors is a major barrier to effectively reducing global warming, as the solution ideally requires everyone’s efforts. Thus, supporters of initiatives to reduce climate change who believe that human activity is the main culprit should self-assess their contribution to fossil fuel emissions and consider altering personal habits appropriately.
