1) The typical audience member is a millennial in the US, anywhere in the country from the ages of around 16 to 35. Young people in college or professional school more than other occupations (although this is not to say other non-college educated people aren't a part of this audience), and of all demographics. The people who will be being addressed will likely be liberally-leaning or Democrats, because it is these people who will feel most concerned about the future of our nation at this time.
2) Diane is a college student at the University of Michigan. She loved Bernie Sanders, but was unsure at first about whether to vote for Hillary Clinton, Trump, or a third party after the party conventions. However, as the campaign dragged on, she became more and more in favor of Clinton and eventually cast her vote for her. She lives off-campus, has brown hair, 4 siblings, and a large extended family. Although not rich, she is privileged, white, and majoring in Biomedical Engineering.
3) We are both concerned about the future of our nation, we both care about the rights of our fellow americans, we both appreciate the impact of climate change, and we both feel somewhat helpless to change the course of the US.
4) We are not likely to want to get involved in the same way and for the same causes, and we will value our time differently and that will affect the strength certain arguments will have to us.
5) None of these are insurmountable, and the arguments that will be most effective are ones which leave the exact manner we get involved up to Diane and the audience, yet still provide convincing reasons to get involved in the first place and information about how to get involved to make Diane and the audience feel like this will make a difference.
6) The desire to have a positive impact on the country and to do what we think is the most good.
7) I will not accept that not getting involved to make a difference is the way to go. I won't budge towards the concept complacency is acceptable and I intend to reject this outright.
8) I will acknowledge objections starting after I propose getting involved should be a priority. This will be in the middle of the paper so that I can set the stage for my assertion, make it and defend it, and then move on to the implementation of the assertion before concluding.
