Custer's Revenge for the Atari 2600

Who/What: This video game released for the Atari 2600 sparked a ton of outrage and led to protests from Women Against Pornography, video game critics at the time and also native american spokespeople.

When: The game was released in September of 1982. Was protested throughout its initial release window and afterwards for a long while.

Where: It was released nationwide as an adult only video game, but again it was protested by many different groups nation wide as well.

Why: From the box art, you can tell this game was doomed from the get go as far as PR goes. A naked white man looking to be groping on a highly sexualized native american woman. Just awful artwork. What is worse is that when you play the game the object of it is to reach the other side of the screen as a naked General Custer while dodging arrows all so you can proceed to rape a naked native american woman who is tied to a pole. The idea behind the game is one of the worst all time. And if that was not bad enough, the back of the box sported some truly terrible puns. The worst part about it is that the gameplay is void of life and never changes. The game itself is known to be one of the worst ever created was nothing but a jockey for controversy.
