Legible

1) Definition: clear in its motivation and the perception of the protest by the audience in the moment.

2) An example of a protest movement is the Vietnam Anti-War protest in America. This was legible because the poster explicitly calls out Americans for being so afraid of communism that they went to war for it. People can understand the poster meaning by looking at the visuals and they would understand the message because of the context at the time.

3) In the Deluca and Peeples article, they talk about how once the protests in Washington turned violent, they were no longer legible because they lost their clear purpose and just became a riot.
