"We Welcome You to Denmark"

Who/What: The image was published from an unnamed initiative started by a select group of people in Denmark in response to the government decision to deter the influx of Syrian refugees into Denmark. The people of the initiative focused on the people who are classified as a refugee. A Syrian refugee (as can be determined by the term) is a person in Syria whose home was destroyed and left the country in search of a safe place. The initiative is mostly through Facebook with thousands of individual claiming to like the cause.

Where: This advertisement was mostly centered in the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen. That is because the advertisement is directed towards refugees as a form of welcome, but the secondary audience is the government

When: This advertisement was published in the beginning of August 2015. This is the time of conflict in the Middle East and Syria being a victim country of war destruction. The conflict is still ongoing (as well as the decision from the Denmark government) so it has become a global crisis.

Why: The reason for the deterrent of Syrian refugees coming from other countries is alleged xenophobia. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the rise of violent groups (like ISIS) have caused the homes of Syrians to be destroyed and they have sought for a safe place. However, some refugees have claimed to share the values of ISIS. This has caused fear that the countries the refugees are fleeing to are going to cause destruction/death. The initiative group behind the advertisement believes that one spoiled apple shouldn't ruin the whole bunch. The want people to be able to be safe. That's why the group is protesting the government's decision to not allow more refugees into the country.  The group ends it's message with "Humane Welcome" because of the belief that the innocent should not be treated as if they are guilty.
